Interview with Ji Yang from China, studying Landscape Architecture

What do you like about studying at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences?

The university has very good teachers and classmates. The learning environment at this school makes me feel very happy. I have benefited from the combination of the school's landscape professional curriculum theory and practice. I would like to learn more about the academic knowledge of the landscape design profession here.

Why did you choose the course you are studying now?

The current course covers the history of European rural landscape development. At the same time, I also like to study about the public space in the city. I also benefited from the English classes offered by the school. So I am very happy to choose these courses related to my major

What do you like about living in Wrocław?

I like the old buildings in Wroclaw. At the same time, I also like the urban water system and modern landscape design. The people here are very friendly and Polish food is delicious. Our school made me feel very warm.

What are your dreams and plans for the future?

In the future, I intend to continue my research on landscape design as a Ph.D. And I am very interested in the research on urban public space design and urban green storm infrastructure. While studying, I hope to make more good friends in Poland. Finally, I hope to become a powerful landscape designer in the future.

What are you passionate about?

I am really interested in learning the ecosystem in the urban structure. Therefore, how to protect and create a better urban ecological environment is the focus of my research. I prefer to analyze the entire urban ecosystem from the water system. I will be more crazy research related knowledge for future landscape design.

What do you value most in you study experience in Poland?

In school life, the most interesting thing is to work with classmates to investigate and design a blockhouse around the city. Together we studied how to make this historical site of the fortress preserved while providing a space for outdoor recreation activities for people.

Are you engaged in any extra-curricular classes, students' activity groups?

I participated in a marathon 'Jubileszowa' race in this city on March 10^th 2018 as a volunteer of WROactiv. After gathering with the same volunteers and staff in the stadium, we went to the athlete's track to provide drinking water for athletes. Although the experience is hard, it is very meaningful. In the future, I will continue to actively participate in various student activities.
