Wrocław the Meeting Place

Wrocław is the third largest city in Poland and the biggest city in the west of the country, with almost 700 000 residents. Situated on the Odra river, it is a unique city with 12 islands and 112 bridges. Being the most important city of Lower Silesia, it is its administrative, economic and cultural capital. Wroclaw is a city of tolerance, called ‘The Meeting Place’. Multicultural, open to new ideas and challenges, famous for its hospitality. The city is an important academic centre with 28 higher education institutions, with around 130 thousand students, among them 5 thousand international students.

Wrocław was the European Capital of Culture in 2016 and won the competition for the European Best Destination in 2018. In 2021 according to the Global Cities of the Future ranking, Wrocław took 15th place in the world, leaving behind such agglomerations like Warsaw, Toronto, and Moscow.

Travel fast

Wrocław has a well-developed system of public transportation. You may travel in Wrocław by bus, tram or train. What's more, it's really cheap. Single fare is 0,54 EUR and a monthly ticket costs 13 EUR. With the Polish visa or residence card you may travel around the Schengen zone countries. It is possible to reach Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Warsaw within a 4 hour drive. The Sudety mountain range is situated 2 hour drive from the city. There is an international airport with connections to many destinations in Europe. Thanks to the perfect location, you can easily explore the whole European continent!

Accommodation in Wrocław is pretty easy to find. However, you need to specify your needs and budget. The university offers accommodation in its dormitories, but usually the rooms are arranged in twin rooms and modules for 2 or 4 persons to share a kitchen and a bathroom. The monthly cost of such accommodation is around 600-750 PLN/person.
